Text reading 'SEVENTEENTHIRTYTWO BRISTOL, ENGLAND'

I care what I make.
Not whether you approve of it.

SEVENTEENTHIRTYTWO is clothing, photography and objects built with controlled defiance.

First release in development.

1732

I’ve never been particularly interested in living according to somebody else’s idea of what I should be.

People can think what they like.

That doesn’t mean they get a vote.

1732 is an extension of that.

Not rebellion for the sake of rebellion. Not pretending nothing matters.

Quite the opposite.

The work matters.
The details matter.
Doing it properly matters.

Approval doesn’t.

The bad decision still has standards.

PRODUCT 001

THE OVERSIZED T-SHIRT

The first 1732 piece is deliberately simple.

A genuinely oversized T-shirt in black and off-white.

SEVENTEENTHIRTYTWO Roundel on the chest.
1732 inside the neck.

Nothing on the back.

No unnecessary decoration.

Just proportion, material, typography and execution doing the work.

Black t-shirt with white circular logo reading 'Seventeenthirtytwo' and '1732' and other small words.

Quiet enough to wear anywhere. Different enough not to disappear.

First release in development.

WHY 1732?

It isn’t a founding date.

1732 comes from issue 1732 of The Big Issue.

That issue brought my photography and writing together as paid published work and marked the close of the period documented in No Fixed Address.

It gave a number to a turning point.

The brand grew from there.

But 1732 isn’t clothing about homelessness, and it isn’t Sam Singleton merchandise.

The history is where it started.

What comes next is allowed to become something of its own.

PRODUCT 002

THE PHOTOGRAPHIC SWEATSHIRT

Photography has always been part of 1732.

Here, it becomes the main visual event.

Selected images from Sam Singleton’s photographic work, translated onto a heavyweight sweatshirt without turning the garment into a souvenir.

The photograph earns its place because it works.

Not because it needs explaining.

Branding stays restrained. The image does the talking.

A young man with dark hair and a beard wearing a black sweatshirt with landscape and text art on the back, standing in front of a black backdrop.

A photograph you can live in, not just hang on a wall.

First release in development.

Know what you’re doing.

Know what it might cost.

Decide it’s worth it.

Do it properly.

1732 can be elegant, inappropriate, serious, funny, beautiful, reckless and meticulously made without seeing any contradiction between them.

It doesn’t dress for the room.

It turns up as itself.

THE QUOTE T-SHIRT

Some things are better said properly.

One line. No unnecessary explanation.

Polite language, bad attitude and the occasional thought that probably should have stayed internal.

Not slogans designed by committee.

Not manufactured rebellion.

Beautifully presented. Mildly inappropriate. Entirely intentional.

First release in development.
