Homeless in a Heatwave | The Big Issue

Published in The Big Issue, Issue 1732, and online on 25 August 2026.

Part of Quiet Life, Volume One: No Fixed Address, this photographic essay documents what it was like to experience homelessness during the summer heatwaves while continuing to work full time as a mechanic.

Through my own photographs and accompanying writing, I explore the practical realities of sleeping in a car and later at a campsite, from finding shade and water to keeping clean clothes for work and maintaining some sense of ordinary life without a home.
