Articles
I write about work, housing, photography, cars and the systems behind ordinary life. Some of this has been published elsewhere. Some of it starts here.
This is where I keep my essays, published features, photographic stories and Field Notes together.

Field Notes
Field Notes - October ‘26 - Work on Walls
October was spent trying to get photographs off a screen and onto walls. There were exhibitions to prepare, a journey to Westminster, a garage to leave and the usual problem of trying to pay for everything in between.
No Fixed Address | The Pavement
How No Fixed Address began as a photographic record of everyday life while homeless, from a service-station launderette to the routines of living in a car and tent. Published in The Pavement.
Field Notes - September ‘26 - Apparently I Write Now
Photography, writing and nearly sixteen years in workshops had always felt like separate parts of my life. This month they started looking more like parts of the same one.
Working but Homeless in Britain.
Featured by the Centre for British Documentary Photography, No Fixed Address documents my experience of spending 23 nights homeless while continuing to work full time as a mechanic.
Through documentary photography, the project explores the routines, uncertainty and often overlooked reality of hidden homelessness, where having a job, a car and an outwardly ordinary life doesn't necessarily mean having somewhere to call home.
Field Notes - August ‘26 - 41 Pence
August was the month I got a fixed address, had 41p left, rebuilt my photography setup and watched No Fixed Address become my first paid national publication. Somewhere between moving boxes, metadata and The Big Issue, being housed slowly started to feel like being home.
Homeless in a Heatwave | The Big Issue
A photographic account of the 23 nights I spent homeless while still working full time, including sleeping in my car during a heatwave. Published in The Big Issue, Issue 1732.
Field Notes - July ‘26 - Berries Out of Reach
July began with forced movement, a car becoming a bedroom and a tent becoming home. Somewhere between rationing fuel, photographing the ordinary machinery of survival and eating blackberries from a hedge, No Fixed Address began turning into a body of work, and photography into a possible route forward.
The Weight of Light
The Weight of Light is an image-led photographic editorial exploring light and atmosphere, published by MALVIE Magazine in July 2026.
